There are many issues to consider when selecting the right document scanner for your organization and Imaging Solutions can help you make the right choice. Some of the options include:

• Speed: Department, entry-level production, mid-range or high speed scanner models?
  
• Timeframe: How many users, how quickly does the work need to be completed? How many pages per minute?
  
• Document feeder: The number of documents in each batch will determine the necessity and size of an automatic document feeder.
  
• Document quality: Paper size and thickness? Color, grayscale, or black and white? Simplex or duplex? Rotation? Image correction?
  
• Data capture: Bar code, OCR (optical character recognition), ICR (intelligent character recognition) or data entry?
  

Production scanners for corporate or organizational requirements are different than scanning equipment for your home in that they need software to capture and manipulate the image, do automated forms processsing, collect the indexing data and store or distribute the resulting information. Many of these production scanners also need a scanner interface card and cable.
