A new magnetic storage option for ‘fixed content’ is content addressed storage (CAS). The first magnetic disk-based WORM device, EMC’s Centera facilitates compliance with the most stringent regulatory requirements.
Traditional magnetic storage is on tape and this continues to be a cost-effective, removable media solution. Autoloaders eliminate the human element associated with swapping tapes in a cost-effective manner.
Another magnetic storage option is Storage Area Networks (SAN). SANs are computer hard drives used to store data and images, and the data can be stored and erased multiple times.
