Challenge:   This large processing lab offers pathology, genetic and clinical chemistry testing services to patients, physicians and managed care organizations. Their goal is to process and report back to the patient within 24 hours the results of their biopsy. Their process to route data to the pathologist was manual and it was taking days to provide the test results back to the patient.

Solution:  Imaging Solutions designed and deployed a capture and content management solution that reads the test req barcodes (that is matched to the lab specimen), does a look up to their database to provide patient information, and stores the images in a content management solution whereby the pathologist can view the test req and the sample specimen in order to provide a medical diagnosis.

Results:  The customer benefits are high. Patients are very anxious to hear the results of their test.  The solution allows the lab to automate the process of diagnosing the specimen and provide the pathology results to the patient within 24 hours.
