Challenge:   This Health Insurance provider entered a new business that would allow customers to fulfill RX prescriptions by mail thereby eliminating the need to go to the local pharmacy. The ability to order RX by mail is a great benefit to senior citizens. The company had no RX process automation and all prescriptions, applications, authorizations and payments via check were completely manual. They established a goal to process RX’s in 24 hours of receipt in order to meet competitors already in the market.

Solution:  Imaging Solutions designed an automated capture process using barcodes to automate the RX ordering process and release the info to both Oracle and FileNet for processing. This allowed for integration to the RX line of business application that stored info about the order, customer, their allergies, etc. and allowed for the fulfillment of the drugs.

Results:  Imaging Solutions designed a process that significantly improved the time to process, accept and verify RX orders. Shipments are made in the 24 hour period as specified. Significant operational improvements were made resulting in improved revenue, cash flow and customer retention in a very competitive market. As a result of the first deployment, add-on business in a specialty RX area is in process.
